Life Lessons
Now, I don't like to be preachy. I really don't. And, I don't like advice, but sometimes little fables present themselves that are just too powerful not to be discussed. As such, I bring you proof that actions really do speak louder than words courtesy of the guests from Friday's episode of Maury Povich. Guest #1 got a very serious look and told his girlfriend that "he worked hard every day to show her how much he loved her." Now, it seems to me that Darius might work hard every day to show Tanya that he loves her except on those days that he was sleeping with her mother. And, truthfully, even on those days he wasn't physically in bed with her mother, he was still lying to her about his incestuous affair and trying to figure out ways to siphon off cash to support the child he fathered with her mom. Therefore, I must conclude that Darius isn't really trying to show Tanya he loves her at all, unless love means giving her that half-sister she never knew she wanted by any means necessary. Guest #2 told her soon-to-be husband that she loved him "more than anything else on the planet." Of course, Ellen's actions would seem to add the caveat "except for myself" onto this one. I don't see how Ellen can love Jose more than herself when she's willing to do a very selfish, hurtful thing by cheating, and then compound that by 1. humiliating him by revealing that information on national television and 2. really expecting him to still want to be with her after she slept with a member of his family, lied about the fact that their baby might not be his, and forced him to undergo a paternity test while a live studio audience hooted and hollered. In case you're wondering, Guest #2 was dumped while Guest #1 was not. Guest #1 was quickly forgiven by Tanya because she "loved him," and he swore that he would "try to stop sleeping with her mother. " But, it would be tough for him because he "thought he was addicted to her." Tanya - seriously? He's going to "try" to stop? I think we know how strong his word is. And, as a sidenote that wouldn't seem to need spelling out, but might - revealing a secret to someone on the Maury show is not the best way to get sensitive information off your chest. And, if someone wants to tell you something but you have to go to Maury's studio in New York first - just don't go. Save yourself the pain. (Unless you really can't afford that polygraph or paternity test and are willing to sacrifice some integrity for it.)
